Our History

Chartered May 2009

In October, 2007, Lance Webster, a Board Member of the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (LAGLCC), recruited 20 members of the Chamber to create the first LGBT Toastmasters club in Los Angeles - Chamber Communicators (now Studio City Speakers), centered in Studio City.

The club was highly successful and provided the momentum for Webster and 2009 LAGLCC President Dawn Ackerman to hold a meeting at the home of two Chamber members to promote a second LGBT Toastmasters club in LA. In short order, 25 more LAGLCC members joined, and on May 1, 2009, Toastmasters International chartered the club as West Hollywood Toastmasters.
